The year 2014 was a memorable one for Hamilton Academical as they returned to the Scottish Premiership after incredible scenes in the second leg of the Championship Playoff Final against Hibernian. A nail-biting penalty shootout ensued, with Hamilton Academical holding their nerve to take the promotion winning victory. Fans could be forgiven for wondering how the team would fare in Scottish football's highest league, but the worrying was all for nothing as Accies went on an outstanding 11 game unbeaten run to top the league early on. This run included a strong performance in the 1-0 victory over Scottish Premiership big timers Celtic.
Late Autumn performances in the Scottish Premiership continued to impress for the New Douglas Park outfit, with 21 points from 10 games over the period, confounding critics and helping the team maintain an impressive position in the league. Currently the team sits in 3rd position overall after recent victories against Motherwell and St. Johnstone, another demonstration of the ability of the team to achieve great results on a consistent basis and retain their position towards the top end of the table.
For East Fife FC, September 2014 proved to be the most lucrative month for results, winning three games and drawing one of the five fixtures in the month. During the league campaign for this month East Fife remained unbeaten, securing three points against both Arbroath and Montrose and picking up a point against Queen's Park. November also saw the team go on an unbeaten stretch from their draw against Albion on the 8th of November until their loss against Annan Athletic on the 13th of December, a fantastic points scoring run.
Scottish Sun Lowland League's BSC Glasgow played in a number of high scoring fixtures in 2014, beating Cambusnethan and Threave Rovers 5-0 apiece and recording a crushing 6-0 victory against Lochar Thistle. Other highly entertaining games of 2014 include the 4-4 draw against visiting side Dalbeattie Star which saw Aiden Ferris score a double on his debut for the club. Through November and December, BSC's football calendar was heavily disrupted by a series of postponements, leaving the team with little chance to build up a head of steam as the year drew to a close.
